Jamali’s most innovative contribution to contemporary art is his invented medium, Fresco Tempera. Created outdoors, Jamali uses his feet to manipulate surfaces and colors in a ritualistic dance. Natural ground pigments are applied and bonded with archival substrates to the surfaces. Left outdoors, the pieces are further cured by the elements and interactions with nature. This process of mystical expression creates layer upon layer of colors and surfaces. These stunning masterpieces, while nobly modern, are empowered by their reference to ancient origins.
