“When I first began to have visions, I recorded them only with pastels on velour because it is an instantaneous medium. It facilitated my ability to spontaneously transfer my thoughts and revisualize my dreams. In five years, from 1976 - 1982, I created some 5,000 works.” Jamali
Pastel on velour is a traditional surface that uses paper, glue and crushed organic material to create a finely textured surface to which pastels adhere beautifully. Many of Jamali’s original pastels are on hand made surfaces he created, adding crushed flowers for color. Some of the pastels have been applied to velour board that is machine made. All artwork is available as unique originals, or limited-edition prints.
