Jamali first took up landscape photography in Pakistan, influenced by his father, a physician, bureaucrat, art collector and recognized nature photographer. Jamali now works in an instinctual way in studio, using a single light source, no light meter, or digital technology and regularly shooting with analog film and an 8 x 10 view camera. His sets usually feature his own artwork as a theatrical backdrop, achieving a kind of cinematic freeze frame; an uncanny moment in time.
Photographs are available in limited edition, archival "baryta" based papers or on high quality fine art papers and canvases. Some rare photographs have been hand painted by the artist, producing unique (no editions), mixed media artworks.
