Jamali first took up landscape photography in Pakistan, influenced by his father, a physician, bureaucrat, art collector and recognized nature photographer. Jamali works in an instinctual way in studio, using a single light source, no light meter, or digital technology, and regularly shooting with analog film and a large format 8 x 10 camera. His sets usually feature his own artwork as a theatrical backdrop, achieving a kind of cinematic freeze-frame and uncanny moments in time.
Photographs are available in limited edition, archival "baryta" based papers or on high quality fine art papers and canvases.
Included are a few rare, older photographs hand-painted by the artist, and a selection of brand new works in this unique medium.
